Mark Lipsinic Sensei

Rank: 4th dan – Aikikai, 4th dan – Aiki Toho Iaido

Mark Lipsinic Sensei is the founder and dojo kancho(head instructor) of Yurusu Aikido of Houston -Sho Ku Juku.

Lipsinic Sensei began training in Nishio Aikido in July of 1992 at the Aikido Center of San Antonio Sho Shin Juku in San Antonio, TX, under the guidance of David Hamm Sensei, and began training in Aiki Toho Iaido the following year. During that time Lipsinic Sensei received his Shodan in Nishio Aikido, and Shodan and Nidan in Aiki Toho Iaido directly from Shoji Nishio Sensei while attending seminars in California.

In January of 2000, Lipsinic Sensei moved to Los Angeles, CA where he continued his training in Nishio Aikido and Aiki Toho Iaido under the instruction of Robert Bryner Sensei, the leading instructor of Nishio Aikido in the USA, at The Dojo – Shotakekan in West Los Angeles. During that time he tested before Koji Yoshida Sensei, and received his Nidan and Sandan in Nishio Aikido and Sandan in Aiki Toho Iaido.

In March of 2007, Lipsinic Sensei returned to Texas, where he moved to the city of Houston. Shortly after he arrived here continued his Aikido training at Nations Aikiai under the guidance of Nelson Andujar Sensei – United States Aikido Federation.

In 2009, Lipsinic Sensei tested for and received his Yondan in Aiki Toho Iaido from Koji Yoshida Sensei.

On February 5th 2012, in order to continue his development in Nishio Aikido and Aiki Toho Iaido, Lipsinic Sensei founded Yurusu Aikido of Houston – Sho Ku Juku an Aikido dojo devoted to the teaching and dissemination of Shoji Nishio Sensei’s unique style of Aikido.

In September of 2013, Lipsinic Sensei was promoted to Yondan in Nishio Aikido by Koji Yoshida Sensei and received his certification from the Aikikai hombu dojo – International Aikido Federation.

Lipsinic Sensei continues to routinely travel to California and Japan to attend aikido seminars conducted by Koji Yoshida Sensei, the chief representative of Nishio Aikido in North America, to continue his personal development in Nishio Aikido and Aiki Toho Iaido.

Mark Lipsinic Sensei and Yurusu Aikido of Houston are currently members of Nishikaze Aikido Society of America.
